My sincere symthathy to Jim's family. It is hard to think that I will no longer be able to call him. I considered Jim a friend, colleague, and pillar of strength, courage, and leadership in the fight to control cancer. Please add my name to the long list of NCI-funded scientists that benefited from Jim's knowledge, judgement, and foresight. Jim was critical to ensuring that NCI funding be directed toward innovation. Many of the NCI initiatives that he nurtured are now making a big...

It was very saddening and surprizing to hear the news of the passing of Jim. I had the opportunity and honor to work with him a few years ago. I respected him so much for his knowledge and professionalism. But, more importantly, I was touched by his human side, his humble and giving nature and his willingness to share and help me as a new colleague. Jim will be missed. My condolences to his wife, his children, and all his family.
