Obituary of Linda Sue Gibson

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully in the presence of many loving family members on March 2, 2012 at Montgomery Hospice Casey House in Rockville, MD after a long illness with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Avondale, WV on June 15, 1944 to Frank A. and Bertha M. Bowles; graduated from Iaeger High School, Iaeger WV in 1962 and Little French Beauty Academy, Bluefield, WV in 1964, and was a resident of both Deep Creek Lake, MD and Germantown, MD. She is survived by her husband John of 45 years; two sons Jonce and Christopher; four grandchildren Samantha, Christopher, Zachary and Brendan; sisters Mildred Perdew and Alice Rodriquez; brother-in-laws Dexter Perdew and Joe Rodriquez; nephews Terry Collins and Kevin Rodriquez. She worked as a beautician, a secretary at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington DC, an administrative director of Creative Gardens Nursery School in Crofton, MD, and an executive secretary to the City Manager of the City of Bowie, MD. She was also actively involved in the Bowie Boys and Girls Club and served as their President and an Officer for many years, and later volunteered her time at Senior Centers at several locations in Suburban MD. She loved being with family and friends to provide them with caring, simple acts of kindness and compassionate ways; attending Church; and faithfully rejoiced in serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A visitation was held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Germantown, MD on March 6, 2012 from 11:30 to 1:30 as well as Hoyes United Methodist Church near McHenry, MD on March 6 from 6 to 8. The Funeral Service was conducted at Hoyes United Methodist Church on March 7, 2012 at 1 PM. Donations may be made in her memory to Hoyes United Methodist Church, 43 Hoyes Rd, Friendsville, MD 21531
