Obituary of Cheryl Lynn Chisnell

Cheryl Lynn Chisnell, resident of Takoma Park, MD, passed away Sunday, March 4th, 2012, at the age of 48. Born January 19, 1964 in Detroit, MI, she graduated from Merrill Senior High School (WI) in 1982. She followed her love of music to Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, but her gift for math won out and she graduated with a B.S. in Math in 1986. She continued her educational studies by earning a Master's of Arts in Library Science and later a Master's of Education. Cheryl's career spanned a broad spectrum of professional services. She worked for both Earlham and Cornell Colleges providing Academic Computer support. Later she became the head of Systems Technology at Vanderbilt University. Cheryl spent many years at Ovid Technologies in New York, as the Vice President of Medical and Academic Software Development. She became a teaching fellow for the New York Public Schools, where she shared her love of math with high school students. She eventually moved to Washington D.C. to work as a math teacher for the See Forever Foundation/ Maya Angelou Schools. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Chisnell, and Kathel's mother, Loretta Dunn. She is survived and will forever be remembered by her partner, Kathel Dunn, Cheryl's father Lee Chisnell, Kathel's father, Alan Dunn, Cheryl's siblings, Leslie Chisnell, Teresa (Mike) Mortell, David (Ann) Chisnell, Colleen Chisnell (Gerald Dienstl), Jerry (Debbie) Chisnell, Christopher Chisnell (Sandy Hargrave), Amy Chisnell, Roy Chisnell, Kathel's siblings Dan Dunn, Clare Dunne, Tim Dunn, and Joy (John) Weir, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cheryl's name to Lawrence University or to the See Forever Foundation/Maya Angelou Schools in Washington, DC.
