Obituary of Josephine Wright Walker

Josephine Wright Walker died Dec 20, 2013 at Arcola Nursing & Rahab Center, Silver Spring MD, of natural causes. She was 91 years old. Known as Jo or Josie to her friends, she was born in Baltimore, MD and lived there most of her life. She worked as a secretary and mail room clerk for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad until her retirement in 1983. A diehard N.Y. Yankees fan, she loved to tell of her travels to NYC in the '50 and '60's to see the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium. For a number of years in the '70's and '80's she spent vacations traveling with fellow fan club members to see singer Engelbert Humperdinck perform. After hip surgery in 2000, Jo moved to Silver Spring MD to be closer to her niece. There she enjoyed new friends at her residence, The Oaks at Four Corners, watched her favorite sports on TV, and read the newspaper daily to keep up with current events. Although her favorite singer was Larry Cotton from the Big Band era of her youth, she came to enjoy country music and was an Alan Jackson fan. Josephine was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Arline (Milne) Wright; her father, Carey Alden Wright; and her beloved sisters, Justine Klus of Cincinnati, OH, and Eleanor McLean of Miami FL. She is survived by five nieces and nephews: Andrea (Klus) Loney, Stephen (Angie), David (Barbara), and Paul (Dawn) Klus, and Michelle McLean. There will be a private gathering to celebrate her life at a later date.
