Obituary of Lucia Lyle Winter

Lucia Lyle (Lyla) Winter passed away on July 15, 2014 at age 89 in Washington, DC. She is reunited with her beloved daughter Laurie Ann who preceded her in death in 2006. Lyla was born on January 22, 1925 to the late Foster and Madge Winter in Detroit, Michigan. She is survived by her son, Donald McPherson of Winchester, Virginia and her brother and sister-in-law, Foster and Kathleen Winter of Cincinnati, Ohio. Lyla is predeceased by her sisters Brenda Deesen and Madge Queen. Lyla graduated from Monticello College (now part of Lewis and Clark College) in Godfrey, Illinois. Following her years as a homemaker in the Detroit area, she moved to Washington DC where she worked as an administrative assistant until her retirement. An avid reader and follower of current events, Lyla will always be remembered for her quick wit and inimitable sense of humor. The family will celebrate Lyla's life with a gathering this summer on the Michigan waters that she loved.
