Obituary of Sally Ann Roy

Sally Ann Roy, 74, retired Senior Vice President of InterAmerica Technologies, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2019, in Washington, DC, after a long battle with frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). Sally was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, but called the DC-area home after graduating from American University. Sally began her career with InterAmerica Technologies in 1984, and in September 1993 went on to serve as the Senior Vice President for 17 years until the company was sold on February 28, 2010. She was one of a few female executives in the technology industry, her company providing constituent-management software to Members of Congress. She was also an active member of Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as with the City of Rockville, serving as the chair of the Alternative Community Service Commission in the mid-1980s. Sally was an avid Washington sports fan. She is fondly remembered for her quick wit, commitment to social justice, and her generous spirit. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Garzon, and granddaughters, Gabriela and Sofia Montes Garzon, of Rockville, Maryland; and her sister, Paula A. Roy, of Rahway, NJ. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ann Waters, and her younger sister, Ellen Roy. A celebration of Sally's life will be held on June 22 at 4 o'clock pm at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Sally's honor may be made to her granddaughter's team in the NationalCapital WALK to End Hydrocephalus or to The Association for FrontotemporalDegeneration (AFTD).
