Edward Jeffrey Beecham

Edward Jeffrey Beecham, 61, of Locust Grove, VA and formerly of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away on December 23, 2020 after a long illness.

Known as Danny to his family and Jeff to his friends and co-workers, he was born on May 9, 1959 in Tokyo, Japan to Charles Robert Beecham and the late Jane McKenzie Beecham.  He is survived by his wife Diane Duffy Beecham of Charlotte, NC; daughter Samantha McKenzie Beecham of Chapel Hill, NC; son Ryan Christopher Beecham of Charlotte, NC; his father and his wife Sarah Jane Taylor Beecham of Locust Grove, VA; and sisters Joan Beecham of Kensington, MD, Tane Beecham Roge (Stuart) of Winnetka, IL and Megan Beecham (Tom) of Washington, DC; and nieces and nephews. 

Jeff graduated from the University of Maryland with a Ph.D. in Microbiology.  His career was devoted to medical and scientific research in Bethesda, MD, Des Moines, IA, Boston, MA, Chapel Hill, NC and Charlotte, NC.  He had many varied interests including woodworking, gardening, cooking, football and movies.

A private service will be held at a later date.
