Obituary of Uraus Joseph

Uraus Joseph, affectionately known and remembered as “Djo” and ” Papi Lolo,” passed away on September 26, 2022, at 92. He was born on May 13, 1930, in Port-au-Prince. Papi Lolo was a devout Christian, a caring husband, and a father. He married Marie Carmen Eusebe, “Manmi Sesel,” in 1956 and had 65 years of happiness and a faithful journey together. Papi Lolo was a well-known carpenter in Port-au-Prince. He left Port-au-Prince in 1963 to live in Petit-Goave with his wife. He continued carpentry, but in this same period, he accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior and master. From the start, he was very involved in the church. He was appointed Sunday School superintendent, home Bible study leader, and outdoor service leader. He founded a literacy school to teach reading and writing to brothers and sisters in his church who did not have the opportunity to go to school. Together, Papi Lolo and Manmi Sesel were busy building and growing their family. They had eight children: Mario, Nerline, Marie Poupette, Mirlande, Ernst, Rose Esther, Gernide, and Magdala. Always looking for better opportunities for their family, Papi Lolo and Manmi Sesel eventually moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, where they resided for the past 26 years. Papi Lolo is survived by his lovely wife, Marie Carmen, their eight children, seven sons-in-law and daughters-in-law,18 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The Joseph family is grateful for all the support and condolences as we say goodbye to our loving Papi Lolo. The Service will be held Friday, October 7th, 2022 at Eglise Baptise Du Calvaire 10002 Riggs Rd, Adelphi, MD 20783 from 11:00 to 12:30. There will be a viewing right before the service from 10:00 to 11:00. Committal service will be held on the same day at 1pm at Rockville cemetery, 1350 Baltimore Road, adjacent to Rockville Civic Center Park, in Rockville, Maryland.
