Obituary of Pamela Sommers

On December 12, 2022, Pamela Lynn Sommers passed away in Casey House in Rockville, Maryland at the age of 56.  Pam was born in Bloomington, Indiana, to her mother, Billie Sommers, and her (late) father, W. Ray Sommers.

Pam is survived by her mother, Billie Sommers of Muncie, Indiana; her fiancé and partner, Donna Sudano; her sister, Rhonda (Brian) Keith, her niece, Noel Keith, and her nephew, Jacob Keith; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, W. Ray Sommers, in 1985.

She graduated from Natrona County High School, Casper, Wyoming, and went on to attend Phillips University in Oklahoma where she graduated with a degree in Communications.

This is a devastating loss for Pam’s family, her fiancé and partner, her friends, and everyone who knew her well. She was an incredibly warm, kind, gentle soul who would always go out of her way to help others.  Pam had a special place in her heart for animals, and she looked upon all of the pets she had throughout her lifetime as her fur babies.

Pam had a successful career spanning more than a decade at C-SPAN and was only days away from starting a new position with PBS.  Her work touched countless people, and the outpouring of support from those she worked with and befriended was overwhelming in the best of ways.

Pam’s passing leaves a hole in so many of our hearts, but one that will eventually be filled with the warm memories of her years with us all.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the  Rockville United Church, 355 Linthicum Street, Rockville, MD 20851.    The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Manna Food Center in Montgomery County, Maryland, or Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood, Maryland, or the Rockville United Church.
