Obituary of Agnes Mardelle Richey

Agnes Mardelle Richey, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 at her home in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Born in Mason City, Illinois, she graduated from Blackburn College. She then came to Washington, D.C. to work in the war effort during WWII. She eventually went to work on Capitol Hill where she met her future husband, the late Charles R. Richey who later became a U.S. District Court judge for the District of Colombia. She loved people most of all and had many close friends who were very important to her. She worked full time for many years in the realestate industry in the D.C. area. She was a devoted volunteer at the Central Union Mission in Washington D.C. She was predeceased by her husband and son William. She is survived by her son Charles R. Richey, Jr. of Hamilton Massachusetts, his wife Susanne and step children Dugan F. MacVaugh and Ashley P. MacVaugh and her grandson Barclay Richey, New York, New York, and her devoted caretaker for six years, Sriyanti Mukri (Yanti). A spring celebration of her life is planned at a date to be determined. She will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to Central Union Mission P.O. Box 96763 Washington, DC 20090.
