Obituary of Ruth E. Crist

Ruth Eileen Dulaney Crist (94) peacefully went to be with her Lord on July 7, 2016. She died at her daughter's home in Olney, MD. She was born on October 7, 1921 in Washington, DC and lived most of her life in the Washington, DC area. She was wife of the late Walthall R Crist (Hunsey), World War II Veteran ( who passed away on December 7, 2008) and sister of Nancy Spaulding of Myrtle Beach, SC. She was mother of seven children, Howard R Crist of Wilmington, NC; Judith L Eisenacher of Olney, MD; Kelley R Crist (deceased), Steven W Crist of The Villages, FL; Bonnie J Hamilton of Camden Wyoming, DE; Peggy A Hunt of The Villages, FL and Jeannie L Ritchie of Thurmont, MD; 11 grandchildren Lori, Wendy, Bonnie, Carrie, Kevin (deceased), Kimberly, Stephanie, Cristi, Shannon, Eric and Ryan; 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Ruth was a devout Christian and spent many years teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, playing piano for Wheaton Woods Baptist Church. She taught crocheting at adult education in Montgomery County; swimming lessons to toddlers and adult water aerobics at YMCA in Bethesda. She volunteered for many organization including Montgomery County Fair (volunteer director of Arts and Crafts); also crocheted hats, scarfs and afghans for Wounded Warriors. Some of her hobbies and passions were reading, bird watching, crocheting, roller skating, swimming, boating, and traveling in their RV around the country. Celebration of her life will be at Oakdale Church in the Historic Chapel located at 3425 Emory Church Road, Olney, Maryland 20832 on Friday, August 12, 2016 @ 2PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions of her memory may be sent to Billy Graham Association (billygraham.org); Christian Aid Missions (christianaid.org), JSSA Hospice (jssa.org) or Oakdale Church (oakdale.church/give)
