Obituary of Harold J. Winters

Harold J. Winters, 88, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home in Silver Spring, MD. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura, and his 5 children, daughter Barbara Bustard married to Judith; daughter Karen Husselbee married to Bruce; daughter Jenny Gehman married to Dan; daughter Christy Smith married to Doug; and son David Winters married to Kathleen. In addition he is survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Winters; sister Alyce Poe; daughter Cathy Eveland; and granddaughter Heather Higgins. Hal loved golf, swing dancing, poker, joke-telling, and being involved in any and every activity his children and grandchildren took part in whether it be football, cheerleading, band, dance, running, or building high school floats for parades. A memorial service will be held at Riderwood Retirement Community at a yet to be determined date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Riderwood Benevolent Care Fund" and sent to Riderwood Philanthropy at 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904.
