He is survived by his grandson Todd McCoy and many cherished nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

Joe also leaves behind a Band of Brothers and their wives who have been loved and cherished as friends, mentors, confidants, and family since their days at Maryknoll.  Among those friends who he held dear and were at his bedside during his last days are Pat and Patricia Murphy, Peter and Ceola Loan, Betsy Hague and Susan Schulken and family.
